Kathy Carr, BVM accepted a Green Congregation Award for St. Mary's Parish, Corvallis, Ore., where she is social justice ministry director. Kathy has spearheaded the parish's efforts to promote community food security and sustainable agriculture. The honor was given by Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon 's Interfaith Network for Earth Concerns.
Margaret Mary Cosgrove, BVM has been elected to the board of the National Assn. of Treasurers of Religious Institutes for a three year term and re-elected to the Board of Trustees of Loyola University Chicago. She is treasurer of the BVM congregation.
Mary Elizabeth Galt, BVM (Andrew) has initiated into the Loyola Marymount Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education. She also received the Excellence in Education Award from the Holy Family Catholic Community, Glendale, Calif. She is chancellor of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and previously was Superintendent of Elementary Schools.
Jane McDonnell, BVM (Bonaventure) will have a poem published in Lyrical Iowa 2006. “Between the Rivers” is about Iraq. Her work has been selected for this state-wide publication for 15 years.
After 14 years as Food Service Director and then Program Director, BVM Kathleen McGrath (Johnine) was honored at a unique retirement party from Catholic Charities Family Support Center in Santa Rosa, Calif.: a festive evening of fund-raising and food, of gaming and raffles. The evening made close to $11, 000 for Catholic Charities. Table decorations featured Kathleen as the Queen of Hearts!
Kathleen Mullin, BVM (Robert Mary) will receive the Pere Marquette Medal from the Diocese of Peoria in November. She is one of 24 persons being honored as a sign of gratitude for the outstanding service given to their parishes. She has been pastoral associate at Sacred Heart Parish, Moline, Ill, for 17 years and also involved in many Quad-Cities faith related groups. She is also a Coordinator of Initial Membership for the BVM congregation.
Lynn Winsor, BVM was inducted into the National Council for Secondary School Athletic Directors Hall of Fame. She is vice principal for activities and athletic director at Xavier College Prep, Phoenix, and a certified master athletic administrator.
