Catherine Dunn, BVM (Catherine Michele) received honorary doctorate degrees from both Clarke College and the University of Dubuque at their commencement ceremonies. She is retiring after 33 years at Clarke, 22 of them as president. Catherine has also been designated “president emerita” of the college.


Mary Ellen McDonagh, BVM
has been elected to the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Chapter of Missourians to Abolish the Death Penalty.

 


Xavier College Prep, Phoenix, Ariz., has won the Arizona Interscholastic Assn. (AIA) Blue Cup Award. This is the AIA's highest award, recognizing excellence in high school activities, scholastics and athletics. Only six schools of Arizona 's 253 have ever won this award.

It honors schools with a high percentage of students who excel academically and in AIA-sanctioned sports and activities, in addition to having a character education program. At Xavier, 86% of the students participate in AIA athletics or activities while also maintaining a 3.5 grade point average.

BVM Joan Fitzgerald is Xavier principal; Lynn Winsor is vice-principal for athletics and activities, and Joan Nuckols is a faculty member and campus minister.
