Senior Sisters Add to Warmth in Winter |
They call themselves the Knit Wits. These 16 senior sisters at Mount Carmel come together weekly to knit warm scarves and hats as protection from the winter winds. Thanks to a recent gift of rake knitting looms and yarn to Isidora Lorentz, BVM from Frances Enos of Snohomish, Wash., needy youngsters and adults in Dubuque, Chicago and Selma, Ala., receive these creations woven with love. The items are delivered by BVMs ministering in these locales. Some of the knitters continue working back in their rooms, generating two or more hats a week; to date, more than 208 have been completed. Mrs. Enos' daughter and son have signed on to the project, pledging an on-going supply of yarn. Return to Table of Contents. |
